FAQ
Questions We Hear From Parents
Organized into four groups: Programs, Enrollment, Daily Life, and Fees & Policies.
Programs
How do we choose a program?
Age is the simplest guide: Preschool for ages 1.5–6 (through kindergarten), Kindergarten After School alongside kindergarten, and Elementary After School alongside elementary school (grades 1–3). If you're not sure, a tour is the best place to talk it through.
Do you run camps during spring, summer, and winter breaks?
Yes — Seasonal Camps are announced through our official LINE account.
Enrollment
Can we visit or try a class first?
Yes. Tours and trials let you and your child experience the atmosphere firsthand — see real activities and how teachers work with children — and decide if it's the right fit.
Can we enroll anytime?
Mid-year enrollment is possible depending on availability. We'll work with you individually on timing and days per week so your child settles in without pressure.
What's the minimum number of days per week?
Preschool starts from 2 days a week; Kindergarten and Elementary After School start from 1 day. We build a pace that fits your child's age, routine, and your family's schedule.
What are the steps to enroll?
Start with a tour or information session to hear about our programs and philosophy, then a trial, application, and contract before enrollment — every step is explained along the way. Full details are on the Admission page.
Daily Life
My child isn't potty-trained yet — is that okay?
Yes, that's fine. We treat toilet training as part of your child's growth, and work through it together with your family at your child's pace.
How do you handle allergies or ongoing medical needs?
Your child's safety comes first. We'll ask for a doctor's note and any required documents, then confirm how we'll handle things individually — please share the details before enrolling.
What if we can't send lunch from home?
A lunch service is available. Choose between bringing a bento or ordering a school lunch, whichever fits your family.
What kinds of activities does my child do?
Art, inquiry projects, English, SEL, and off-campus outings — all built around what your child wants to try. We value the process of thinking, testing, and talking as much as the finished project.
Can parents observe a class?
We don't allow drop-in observation during regular class hours, but tours, events, and exhibitions let you see your child's learning in action. Daily activities are also shared through our Kodomon app documentation.
Fees & Policies
Do I need a Japanese bank account to pay tuition?
Tuition is paid by Aplus bank direct-debit (bank transfer is also available). We'll guide you through payment until that's set up. Seasonal camps and other short programs are paid by bank transfer. We don't accept credit cards.
Is Kodomo Edu covered by Japan's childcare-subsidy programs?
We're a registered licensed childcare facility. Whether you qualify for national or municipal subsidies depends on your child's age, your work status, and your ward of residence — see an example on our Preschool page, and check with your local ward office for specifics.
Can I use the 'Sukusuku Aido' employee-benefits voucher?
Yes, through the Benefit Station program (the discount amount depends on your employer).
